Respected Local Publication's Standards Plummet-DCist Post

Hello, hello, hello. I've been remiss in updating, and for that, i am one sorry dude. sorry to the point that i'm banging my head on a concrete wall, unleashing soul-piercing wails of anguish. i got some weird looks in the coffee room. Anyways, I've been gulping in the joys of Chicago and hope to post some pics later on.

In the meantime, that something i wrote a couple days ago ended up turning into the something else. Here's a link to a revised article I wrote for DCist about Sudan-oriented efforts in DC. Hopefully (for me, not the general populace), this will be the first of many contributions.

Welcome to the world of mass communication my friend. You're a great writer (much to my own dismay that your articularity...err I'm not sure if that's a word...is superior to my own and I'M the one who went to college to be a writer)and I hope you exploit that talent immensely. I thoroughly enjoyed the article. It's always enlightening to learn of things going on outside our Amrican bubble, which is why I've become an Economist whore lately. I love that publication, so many interesting articles about things 90 percent of America will never hear about. By the way, a couple months back The Economist had agreat article about Usbekistan and an apparent genocidal incident where members of the military took out hundreds of peaceful protesters. I'll send you the link or you can just search Uzbekistan at economist.com and you should be able to find it. Anyway, back to my point...If you enjoy writing as much as I do (you obviously have the talent) don't be afraid to hit up journalism as a career. You're a gifted man my friend...being able to effectively convey a story has more power than people think...

salaam. it's a slow start, but a start nevertheless. umm, by the way, i saw you in college, and the last thing you were doing was studying to become a writer. the recovery process takes years, they tell me.
I'm guessing your talking about the May episode in Uzbekistan here. that was brutal. the US had to toe a fine line in their criticism of the country because they house (or used to house) a key air base there. send me the link when you get a chance.
we'll see about the journalism option. many things about it attract me, but getting in seems quite a feat.
peace of pizza.

ummm welll, okay. Busted. But the piece of paper that Father Tyson gave me when they made me walk across a platform at the University said that I got a degree in journalism. But I guess we all really know that I graduated cum laude in bothof my majors in the field of T-Room Sociology and economics (mingling with various cultures of people while exercising the workings of supply and demand[I want beer, beer is given to me in trade for money, I drink all of the beer,I puke beer, I want more beer, I'm given more beer in trade for more money, I puke more beer...etc.]) and El Rancho Guapo Topography/Geography (I stumbled, dragged and fell down drunk so many times at that place I could make a clay model of it blindfolded). So there.
